Men with hearing loss, especially, seem susceptible — as today’s hearing fact confirms. Taken from a 2018 Australian study, it found that “men with hearing loss had a 69 percent greater hazard of developing dementia” than those who did not have a hearing impairment.
It’s a hearing fact worth drawing attention to during this Men’s Health Month. First, because both hearing loss and dementia are undeniably health-related issues. And second, because hearing loss is very treatable — and experts have concluded that treating hearing loss is one of several things we can do to help prevent or delay dementia.
