I was diagnosed with a hearing loss at the age of three. The loss worsened over time until it evened out in the severe-to-profound range, where it is today. I've worn Starkey hearing aids for over a decade, but I've always worn completely-in-canals (CIC). S Series™ was my first experience with a receiver-in-canal (RIC) instrument and my reaction was, to put it simply, WOW! Now with Voice iQ, sound and clarity have yet again been taken to an entirely new level. I'm truly blown away by what Starkey accomplished with S Series and now with Voice iQ. I tell people I will never know what normal hearing sounds like, but I really feel like this is the closest we've ever come to it, I'm ecstatic! The sound is so natural, clear and crisp, and it is a much more detailed sound. And with Voice iQ, I not only am able to get the power and clarity I need, but now I can hear comfortably in noisy situations – something that has always been a struggle for me with the degree of hearing loss I have.
I am hearing sounds with my S Series iQ devices that I've never heard before. For example, I'll be listening to music in my car and think to myself, "Ohhh, so that's what that song really sounds like," because I am hearing musical sounds that I could not previously hear. I'm also finding that I don't have to turn the volume up on the radio or TV as loud because I'm hearing better than I've ever heard before. S Series iQ also makes it much easier for me to have conversations on my cell phone while driving or in noisy environments such as restaurants and shopping malls. You can hear the device push background noise down almost as if it knows the sounds it needs to focus on, which for me (and for most people) is speech. Whereas I would normally have trouble making out speech when another person is talking in noisy environments and especially if they aren’t looking at me, S Series iQ now makes listening virtually effortless, it’s not nearly as exhausting for me to just be able to participate in everyday conversation.
In short, I'm doing things with S Series iQ that I have not been able to do before because the technology is just that great! S Series iQ brings me the performance I need to live my life with confidence and belief that anything is possible! Starkey has done it again with S Series iQ. It really is remarkable.
